The 30th annual Arts Advocacy Day is so big it takes two! SAC has a winner, a workshop and a meeting. Carol Ann Jones, Prydein, TNT Comedy, Uncle Jimmy, the Blue Rock Boys, AWTB, The Kids Are Alright, Bad Horsey, Bucky Lewis, and the Blues Brothers perform. Lots of movies. There is a free, 13 week, college-level Writing Workshop and a free Business Workshop on Digital Marketing. Artists Marie LaPre Grabon and Kathy Stark talk. Three artistic deadlines loom. Area venues host Gypsy Wind, Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, NightHawk, the Burlington Irish Heritage Festival, and the Varnum Open Mic. The Swanton Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) certification now! We find David Juaire, Cathy LaClair, and Linda Wirts on the walls. The SAC Writer’s Group has a longer project. The Nobby Reed Project, Jesse and Dave, Ryan and Slim, Carol Anne Jones take to different stages. There are True Tales from Local Storytellers on separate nights and First Step Dance holds the first St. Albans group class of the year. Looking forward, 2017 will offer 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations. Continue reading

I’ll be “off the grid” for my road trip for a few more weeks. ArtBits will continue. The Concert for Grumpy Grownups series brought the VYO Winter Concert to the MVU stage. The Artist In has a reception, the Milton Artists Guild has a Holiday Artfest, and River Arts holds Viva Las Artes. A Writer’s Group meets. The Nobby Reed Project, Pierre Chartrand, Alexis Chartrand and Nicolas Babineau, Carol Ann Jones and her Trio, Roy Hurd. Giovanina Bucci, Arthur James, the Will Patton Quartet and Carol and Will together all take the stage. Nanowrimo calls writers. Continue reading

The 2016 Fall Open Studio is here. St. Albans Community Arts hosts the first SACA Arts Mixer. The Vermont Youth Orchestra, the Bob Mackenzie Blues Trio, John Smyth, Justice , Pete’s Posse, a Young Tradition Showcase, the Nobby Reed Project, and Comedy For A Cause all find stages.
