The Stars at NMC are sending boxes of protective gear to the Keys. The Fall Art Walk takes over Downtown. Lori Niederer, Claire Payne, Longina Smolinski and Wayne Tarr have shows. The SAC will film for Swanee 2. Nobby Reed Project, Franklin County Voices, Gypsy Wind, Chris and Erica, Nightrain, John Smyth and Jenn Croteau, Third Shift with Colleen McLaughlin, the Michele Fay Band, and Frevo have gigs. We have some new faces coming to ArtBits. Artist Donna Blatchly was featured on WCAX. Lori Niederer, Claire Payne, and Longina Smolinski are spotlighted. Rocktoberfest, the Cambridge Art Trail, and the en Plein Air Painting Festival begin. St. Albans Community Arts needs artists. CopOuts, AmerikanaBlue, the North Country Trio, the Robin Gottfried Band, Cooie DeFrancesco, Justified, and Carol Ann Jones perform. The library hosts an auction. Continue reading

It’s the last full day of Summer. There are three Paint and Sip style events. Arts Council meetings, and a toe-tapping good Contra Dance. The Austin Piazzolla Quintet, Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers, Bethany Conner & Friends, and the Bob Mackenzie Trio, Roy and the Wrecks, the Robin Gottfried Band, Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, the Bandade Fall Tour, Isaac French with Michael Brewster, Tony Whedon, Dawn Reno Langley, and Janis Raffauf Hess all take the stage. Twiggs has comedy. We have calls for NW Nightmares, the TAM over 60 Art Competition, and the Endangered Fine Art and Photography Contest. And book reports, too. Continue reading

The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue with a huge lineup including the Summer Sounds season finale with Mark Shelton. Chris & Erica, Will Patton and Mark Struhsacker, the Nobby Reed Project twice, Jenni Johnson, Sergio Torres, Cooper and Lavoie, AmerikanaBlue, Frevo, Shake, Donna Thunder and the Storm, Art DeQuasie and Dayve Huckett, Fossil Fuel Band and the MoFo’s, and the Irregulars. There are Laughs For Larry and an Island Arts centennial.
David Winchester and Mike Barkyoumb exhibit. There’s a Paint and Sip, an art workshop, and a $30,000 grant. Continue reading

The Big Music Weeks of Summer continue. The Hokum Bros. live and in color are the Summer Sounds Surprise. David Rosane and the Zookeepers, Kylie, Will Patton and Mark Struhsacker, Carol Ann Jones & The Superchargers, the Ellen Powell Trio, Shane Murley, the Thea Wren Trio, Rushmore, Ben Guihan, the 40th Army Band, the Missisquoi River Band, the Vermont Jazz Ensemble, and the Citizens Concert Band all have gigs. There’s a Girls Rock Showcase, a Tribute to Brooke Ostrander, and more. Art lovers have a Pop Up Pop In gallery, the 9th annual Festival of the Arts, an Evening of Creative Crafts and Craft Beer and a Chair Affair. The SAC Writer’s Group meets. Continue reading

Will Patton and Mark Struhsacker, Jenni Johnson, IncaHoots, Sergio Torres, The Duo, Roy and the Wrecks, Justice, the Girls Rock Vermont Showcase, Shake, the Blue Rock Boys, Montana Russell-Greene with Jared Kenyon and Kai Jamil, the Brewster Bros. with Isaac French and the Take Five jazz ensemble perform. Northern Exposure and The Giggles & Jiggles take the stage. NVAA has a show, the Library has an auction and the Grind hosts a workshop. Sidewalk Chalk Day is here. There is a Family Movie Night.
