Artbits-January 5, 2017
The Swanton Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) certification now! We find David Juaire, Cathy LaClair, and Linda Wirts on the walls. The SAC Writer’s Group has a longer project. The Nobby Reed Project, Jesse and Dave, Ryan and Slim, Carol Anne Jones take to different stages. There are True Tales from Local Storytellers on separate nights and First Step Dance holds the first St. Albans group class of the year. Looking forward, 2017 will offer 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations. Continue reading

I’ll be ‘off the grid’ for my road trip for the next few weeks. ArtBits will continue. Cardiac Capers starts. FCTC presents A Shot in the Dark. The Northwest Nightmares Haunted Hollywood Premiere & Costume Contest and the annual Blue Jean Ball open. Carol Ann Jones, Alan Reid and Rob van Sante, Andric Severance, Bethany Conner, Will Patton and Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats all perform. We have the Art Abandonment and links to other events. There is an “inspirational, motivational, and marketing workshop.” Will Patton, Lewis Franco and the Missing Cats, Rick and the Ramblers, the 40th Army Band, Nobby Reed, Summer Evenings the Starline Rhythm Boys, Justice, and Phil Yates and the Affiliates take the stages. Dance Camp begins at the House. Book groups, art projects, classic movies and State Park passes at libraries this week. Continue reading

Music is Vermont-centric on the Supercharged Main Street Stage and there will be photos, chainsaws, crafts, specialty foods, the parade, and so much more for the 50th Vermont Maple Fest. There is Artists Uncorked, a Quartet of Crafts, and ballroom dance. Carol Ann Jones, Jenni Johnson, A&M, and Chris Parker and Erica Mae Couture all perform around the area. Continue reading

Rotary opens the 24th Expo. St. Albans Community ballroom dances continue and SAC plans a pinwheel art installation. The Opera House opens for 2016 with Prydein. Carol Ann Jones, Open Bands at Twiggs, Dan McKeown and Ben Hook, and Full Tilt all perform. The VSO and VYO play side-by-side. The film Mission Improbable screens.
