Artbits-December 7, 2017

We’ll see commemorative art, try a Family Paint and Sip and a Handmade Ornament Exchange. Terry Rice, Deborah Shell, Sally Tarr, Wayne Tarr, and Trine Wilson hang around on different walls. The Second Friday Dance Social cha cha cha. There is a community arts meeting and three Christmas plays. The Nobby Reed Project, the Carol Ann Jones Quartet, AmerikanaBlue, Cooie & Skip, the Shane Murley Band, plus an open mic, a song and celebration, and Northern Exposure all on stages. Saturday is Veteran’s Day. There’s a annual Craft Show, an annual Art Show, and Rock Art Fun. The Second Friday Dance Social has mini-lessons. Saving Our Waters will be screened and discussed. It’s the last full day of Summer. There are three Paint and Sip style events. Arts Council meetings, and a toe-tapping good Contra Dance. The Austin Piazzolla Quintet, Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers, Bethany Conner & Friends, and the Bob Mackenzie Trio, Roy and the Wrecks, the Robin Gottfried Band, Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, the Bandade Fall Tour, Isaac French with Michael Brewster, Tony Whedon, Dawn Reno Langley, and Janis Raffauf Hess all take the stage. Twiggs has comedy. We have calls for NW Nightmares, the TAM over 60 Art Competition, and the Endangered Fine Art and Photography Contest. And book reports, too. Continue reading

We have a call for the Spring Youth Art Show. KidZArt 2017 celebrates. SACA meets and SAC could raise some money. BBP, Giovanina Bucci, Sean Casey, and Jamie Lee Thurston perform. Artbits-January 5, 2017

The Swanton Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) certification now! We find David Juaire, Cathy LaClair, and Linda Wirts on the walls. The SAC Writer’s Group has a longer project. The Nobby Reed Project, Jesse and Dave, Ryan and Slim, Carol Anne Jones take to different stages. There are True Tales from Local Storytellers on separate nights and First Step Dance holds the first St. Albans group class of the year. Looking forward, 2017 will offer 250 concerts, exhibits, recitals, and shows from more than 40 organizations. Continue reading
