It’s the last full day of Summer. There are three Paint and Sip style events. Arts Council meetings, and a toe-tapping good Contra Dance. The Austin Piazzolla Quintet, Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers, Bethany Conner & Friends, and the Bob Mackenzie Trio, Roy and the Wrecks, the Robin Gottfried Band, Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, the Bandade Fall Tour, Isaac French with Michael Brewster, Tony Whedon, Dawn Reno Langley, and Janis Raffauf Hess all take the stage. Twiggs has comedy. We have calls for NW Nightmares, the TAM over 60 Art Competition, and the Endangered Fine Art and Photography Contest. And book reports, too. Continue reading

Donna Blatchly’s 3D pebble art hangs around and the Barn Quilt Challenge continues. Mamma Mia screens. Theater Camp begins. Jenni Johnson, TNT Comedy, Erin Cassels-Brown, the Donna Thunder Trio, Crone & Bodega, Carol Ann Jones and Will Patton, Fiddleheads with Dominique Dodge, IncaHoots, the Nobby Reed Project, and Katherine Dandurand all perform. Plan ahead for the 15th annual Farewell Reunion concert. The Refuge hosts artists and art. ART100 is back. SAC has the Writer’s Group and a monthly meeting. It is Movie Night. There is comedy plus jams plus Arthur James, Leno & Young, the Starline Rhythm Boys, Justice, John Weaver, Ben Patton, the Inora Brass, and Bella Voce live. The Opera House will hold auditions. I’m off on a road trip but there is plenty of art. Dynamic Duos, has adult Superhero- and Supervillain-themed costumes with music and art. Artists Steve Boal, Shanna Ratner, El Towle, Deborah Travis, and Open Studio are all in the spotlight. Swanton is just Ducky. The Nobby Reed Project, the Lonesome Mountain Boys with Will Patton, The Duel, the Smokey Newfield Project, Inseldudler, Bucky Lewis, and Carol Ann Jones all have shows. Bess O’Brien’s film All of Me is screened. It’s Tractor Day, books get donated and Humanities are for Everyone at our libraries. Continue reading
