Artbits–October 15, 2015
October is National Arts and Humanities Month. The Opera House presents The Nerd. Jenni Johnson and Friends, Carol Ann Jones, Nobby Reed, Paul Reiser, Will Patton, Deja Nous, Isaac and Dominic French, Vermont Has Talent, and a songwriting workshop are all on stage somewhere. We have calls for the Tapped exhibit, the juried Craftys Awards, Swanton Arts Council, and the Portrait Society of America. Teen Read Week begins Sunday. The Highgate Public Library has stories x 2 and St. Albans Free Library wants you for all day. Continue reading

Swanton Arts Council has a busy month. The St. Albans Historical Museum and 14th Star Brewery have an Oktoberfest fundraiser. Irene Lewis has a solo show. Jason Bates and David Stromeyer have a Walking Conversation. Artists and arts events include Mary Harper, Steve Boal, Jan Brosky, and Elizabeth Martin, Artists Uncorked, the Taylor Park Fountain, a Plein Air Painting Festival, Rocktoberfest, and Open Studio Weekend. There is music and storytelling, Nobby Reed (twice), Justice, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. J.P. Choquette will read and sign her newest book. Continue reading

Summer Sounds is resting up for the big 25th Anniversary Festival next month but there is still plenty of music playing: No Left Turn, Carol Ann Jones with Will Patton, Woods Tea Company, the Rose Wharf Band, Missisquoi River Band, Bob Young, Vern Colburn, Elliott Johnson, the 5th annual Cambridge Music Festival, and an Open Mic night.
